About Ramappa Temple

Ramappa Temple also known as the Ramalingeswara temple, is found 77 km from Warangal, the antiquated capital of the Kakatiya administration, 157 km from Hyderabad in the state of Telangana in southern India. It lies in a valley at Palampet town of Venkatapur Mandal, in recent Mulug Taluq of Jayashankar Bhupalpally locale, a little town long past its days of grandness in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. An engraving in the temple dates it to the year 1213 Promotion and said to have been worked by a General Recherla Rudra, amid the time of the Kakatiya ruler Ganapati Deva.

The temple is a Shivalaya, where Lord Ramalingeswara is worshiped. It stands gloriously on a 6 ft high star molded stage. The lobby before the sanctum has various cut columns that have been situated to make an impact that joins light and space wonderfully. Temple is known by the name of the sculptor Ramappa, who fabricated it. The history says that it took 40 years to manufacture this temple.

By Road
Visitors can hire an auto-rickshaw/trekker/taxi from Guwahati Railway Station or any other part of the city. Regular Buses of Assam Tourism Department also ply to and fro Kamakhya Temple connecting it to parts of Guwahati.

By Air
The Temple is about 20 km from Guwahati Airport, which is linked to all major Airports across India. Regular flights connect it to Kolkata, New Delhi, Bagdogra, Chennai and other cities of India.

By Rail
Kamakhya Mandir is about 6 km from Guwahati railway station, which is the largest Railway Station of North-Eastern India. It is well connected to all major cities via regular trains.
There is also a separate Kamakhya Railway Station, which is closer to the temple, but is comparatively smaller.
