The Taxakeshwar temple is a popular religious structure where continuous religious activities take place. It is the place of spiritual importance in Madhya Pradesh that attracts people from all over the country to visit and worship and be a part of the important religious events that take place throughout the year.Taxakeshawar is placed at a space of nearly 22km, away from Bhanpura an urban area on the Hinglagarh road. Mainly, it is the spot of serpent king, Taxak or Takhaji, where he is believed and worshipped as Taxakeshawar. Other than it, the neighboring residents call him as Takhaji and refer with this name. Interestingly, for devotees and tourists, this shrine stands on the most romantic spot, namely Navali, located on the plain land at the foot where Bhanpura is situated. It is easy to find temple to take blessings as everyday many people visit to achieve peace in life.

Taxakeshawar temple, located in Madsaur is the abode of Taxak and the local inhabitants refer this god by the name of Takhaji. This site was toured by James Tod in 1821 who was an Oriental Scholar and an English administrator of the Britishers. He was surprised over the natural scenery and the beauty of the place. The most interesting point that increases your curiosity to visit this temple is that, the statue of Lord Dhanwantari is placed before the effigy of Taxaka. Besides this, the main temple houses the effigy of Shiva, which is observed as the husband of Taxaka.When you visit the temple, you get to see the statue of Taxaka, located within the shrine that has seven serpent hoods to protect the same from the highest direction. Moreover, it is observed that one hand of the statue of Taxaka has a human head and again on the other side of the effigy has his wife and on the other side his son. As per the history, the statue within the location was installed mainly during the 12th century, which once again boosts its significance to a certain extent.

The place has a lot of architectural importance as it depicts the art and style of architecture of the 12th century.Before the site, you find to see an amazing and beautiful natural water pool which is full of variety of fishes. It is the best example of natural beauty and god's creation, as the water in the pool comes in a straight line from a hot water spring from a height of nearly 200 feet.This 100 year old structure interiors and exterior designs are quite simple and have used a very few designs and sculptures to complete it.Yet, it is believed that local vaidyas worship Dhanavantari initially, and then collect some of the medicinal herbs to treat certain diseases of the people.
