About Thirupparamkunram Murugan temple

Tirupparankunram Murugan Temple is a Hindu temple and one of the Six Abodes of Murugan, situated at Tirupparankunram. The temple is worked in shake slice engineering and accepted to have been worked by the Pandyas amid the sixth century. As per the legend it is the place Murugan killed the devil Surapadman and wedded Deivayanai, the perfect girl of the lord of paradise, Indra, and he is said to have revered Shiva here as Parangirinathar.

Inscriptional confirmations bring up that this temple, being cut out of a slope, was most presumably prior a Jain give in. There is another hypothesis that prior to this, the Murugan temple existed much before the sixth century and changed over into Jain love focus by Jain priests under the aegis of Pandya ruler Koon pandiyan. The temple  was later changed over into a Hindu temple under the tutelage of Gajapathy, the priest of a later Pandya King, amid the later piece of the eighth century. The temple has a few increases amid the administration of Madurai Nayaks who charged the pillared lobbies in the temple. In present day times, the temple is kept up and regulated by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
